Many of the women and men who decide to take extended career breaks have a wealth of valuable experience and creativity but find the route back into professional life difficult. The latter is becoming a more pressing issue for all those affected: women and men wanting to go back to work, companies looking for the possibility to capitalise on the opportunities presented by this largely untapped talent pool, and society at large. It is therefore important that any barriers to creating an enabling environment for the re-integration of women and men into the work environment are removed as quickly as possible.
The goal of this workshop is to bring together a few key stakeholders (companies, key organisations, research institutes and the government) to:
- raise awareness about the importance of creating returnship programmes;
- identify key challenges within companies when setting up such programmes;
- identify key challenges in the external environment; and
- start creating a network of partners and collaborators.
